Thomas Mann International - Thomas-Mann-Kulturzentrum Nidden: Dr. Aurimas Švedas

Aurimas Švedas is a director of the Lithuanian Institute of History and an associate professor at the Faculty of History, Vilnius University.
His research focuses on Lithuanian historiography, history theory, communicative and cultural memory, and oral history.
Švedas published a book about Soviet Lithuanian historiography (In the Captivity of the Matrix: Soviet Lithuanian Historiography, 1944–1985, Rodopi / Brill, 2014).
As part of his work on a long-running oral history research project (from 2007 to 2016), Švedas has written four books. His most recent oral history book, Life Should be Transparent: Irena Veisaitė, won the prize for Best Publicistic Journalistic and Documentary Book in Lithuania in 2018 (the book was translated into Polish, Russian, English, and German).
